Eric Wellwood – The Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week

(Windsor) Left-winger Eric Wellwood is the Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week as selected by the Spitfires coaching staff for the week ending Sunday, November 1st.  Wellwood scored five goals and recorded six points with a +5 plus/minus rating in three games this past week.

On Thursday, Wellwood scored one goal and added one assist as he was named the second star of Windsor’s 5-4 shootout loss to the Owen Sound Attack.  The following night, Wellwood scored a career high four goals and was selected as the first star of the Spitfires’ 7-4 victory against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

The 19 year-old Oldcastle, ON native has 11 goals and 9 assists for 20 points with a +16 plus/minus rating in 17 games played this season.  Wellwood was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The Spitfires will play their next home game this Thursday against the Sault Ste.
