(Guelph) After a rough start to the season, the Spitfires seem to have found their grove following back to back victories. After being held off the scoreboard for the opening two periods Friday night, the Spitfires scored five third period goals in a 5-2 win over the Guelph Storm

The Storm opened the scoring at the 8:19 mark of the second period with Peter Holland scoring his first goal of the season. Former Spitfire Conor O’Donnell gained one of the assists.

The Spitfires responded netted the first goal of the third period just 20 seconds in with Adam Henrique gaining his first goal of the season. The assists were awarded to Taylor Hall and Ryan Ellis. Just over two minutes later, Harry Young blasted a point shot past the Storm netminder for his first goal of the season. The assists were awarded to Hall and Adam Henrique. Not to be outdone, forwards Hall and Greg Nemisz continued the Spitfires onslaught scoring two additional goals, the first by Hall at the 14:41 mark and the second by Nemisz at the 17:30 mark

The Storm would pull within two goals of the Spitfires at the 17:56 mark with Conor O’Donnell scoring his first goal of the season but that would be as close as Guelph would come. Hall netted his fifth goal of the season, an empty net goal at the 19:21 mark capping the game scoring

Goaltender Troy Passingham continued to impress saving 33 of 35 shot enroute to the victory

The Spitfires return to the ice on Saturday evening when they face off against the Owen Sound Attack, game time is 7:30 pm.
