(Windsor) Spitfires rookie goaltender Troy Passingham is the Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week as selected by the Spitfires coaching staff for the week ending Sunday, September 20th. Passingham posted a 1.46 goals against average and .900 save percentage in two games for the Spitfires this past week.

Passingham stopped 10 of 11 shots as he helped lead the Spitfires back from a 5-1 deficit to tie the game in regulation, before losing to the Whalers 6-5 in a shootout in Windsor’s season opening game on September 17.  The following night, he stopped 9 of 10 shots as the Spitfires dropped a 5-3 decision to the London Knights.

The 18 year-old native of Mississauga, ON joined the Spitfires as a free agent for Windsor’s training camp in August and earned himself a spot on the team with spectacular play during intra-squad scrimmages and in the exhibition season.  Passingham is currently ranked second in the OHL with a 1.46 goals against average.

Windsor will play their next home game this upcoming Thursday against the Erie Otters at the WFCU Centre.  Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the team will be hosting a pre-game parking lot party starting at 5 p.m. outside of Gate 2 at the WFCU Centre.  The team will also raise its championship banners in a special pre-game ceremony.
