
(Windsor) The Windsor Spitfires are excited to kick off the 2009-2010 season this upcoming Thursday as the defending Memorial Cup and OHL Champions take on the Plymouth Whalers at the WFCU Centre. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the team will be hosting a pre-game parking lot party starting at 5 p.m. outside of Gate 2 at the WFCU Centre. Steve Bell and Paul McDonald from AM800 CKLW will be on hand to host a special pre-game radio broadcast from 6 – 7 pm, featuring Windsor Spitfires Vice-President and General Manager Warren Rychel, Spitfires Govenor Peter Dobrich and Spits fan favourite Adam Wallace. The Spitfires and AM800 will also be hosting interactive games, providing fans with the chance to win prizes! Fans can also take their picture with the Memorial Cup, J. Ross Robertson OHL Championship and Wayne Gretzky Western Conference Championship trophies outside. Musical guests Super Natural, featuring Kim Klyn will be performing at the party with a beer garden and food tent, Spits mascot Bomber, face painters, clowns, stilt walkers and more on hand! Prior to the commencement of Thursday’s game, the Spitfires will also be celebrating their 2009 MasterCard Memorial Cup and OHL Championship performances as part of a special on-ice ceremony featuring all three championship trophies. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:45 pm to watch the beginning of the ceremonies. Fans will also have the opportunity to take pictures with all of the trophies again during the first intermission in the WFCU Centre concourse.
