Goaltender Troy Passingham wore an awfully big smile for a guy that had just given up six goals.

The Windsor Spitfires rookie went the distance in Saturday's exhibition finale and got little support in an 8-4 loss to the Erie Otters before an announced crowd of 5,175 at the WFCU Centre.

After the game, Passingham was called into the board room by management, but it was to give him the good news he had earned the backup job behind Josh Unice.
